Different Trains—A visceral experience that takes you on three different journeys—from childhood reminiscences of carefree train rides, to a harrowing recollection of transports to concentration camps, to postwar survivors traveling to America—created by the celebrated Jewish-American composer Steve Reich. This breathtaking multi-media concert performed by virtuoso members of the Omaha Chamber Music Society will live in your memory long after the final chords have faded into the distance.
A perfect companion piece to Different Trains is the spectacular String Quartet No. 5 by another Jewish-American composer Philip Glass. With equal parts precision and gesture, it, too, takes the listener on a journey that’s as sweeping as it is succinct. An inspired concert pairing!
This concert is presented with generous support from the Sokolof-Javitch Music Fund
