Jennifer Novak-Haar, piano
Jennifer Novak Haar is an active pianist throughout the United States in a wide variety of genres. As a classical pianist, she frequently plays with the Omaha, Lincoln, Sioux City and South Dakota Symphonies, and for other professional organizations in the area. She also collaborates with guest artists, faculty, and students at music schools throughout the Midwest and was an official accompanist for the International Piccolo Symposium and the International Horn Competition of America. She has music directed shows at the Omaha Community Playhouse, the Performing Artists Repertory Theatre, and the TADA Theatre in Lincoln, and she has played keyboard for numerous Broadway touring productions as well as local theater. Jennifer performs in a variety of jazz combos including her own group, Novak & Haar, which is on the Nebraska Arts Council touring roster, and she played for the US tour of the Irish group Fír. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Monique Duphil. She was a Fulbright scholar at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg, Germany, and also studied collaborative piano with both an instrumental and vocal emphasis at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She studied jazz improvisation with Gary Burton and is working towards a professional certificate through Berklee’s online program. She is married to bassist Mark Haar.
