Jaewon Kim, clarinet

Jaewon Kim joined the Omaha Symphony in 2016 as assistant principal/2nd/e-flat clarinet. Prior to his appointment, he was principal clarinet with the Youngstown Symphony in Ohio.

A native of Seoul, South Korea, Jaewon immigrated to the US at the age of 10 and began taking lessons on clarinet and piano.  After graduating high school from the Interlochen Arts Academy, he completed degrees at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory in Toronto and the Cleveland Institute of Music. His primary teachers were Joaquin Valdepenas and Frank Cohen, clarinetists with the Toronto Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra.
